Real votes on one photo

Human Score: how real people rate your photo

A Human Score is the average of real people’s 1–10 ratings of your volunteered photo. It tells you how those voters rated that shot. Your vote count and the photo’s context belong beside the number.

18+ and explicit opt-in. People will see the photo you contribute. Training permission is a separate, optional choice.

How is a Human Score calculated?

The base average is the total of the accepted ratings divided by their count. People tap a number from 1 to 10; there are no written comments.

Illustrative arithmetic, not a customer result

Ratings: 5, 6, 6, 7, 7, 7, 6, 8, 6, 7

65 ÷ 10 votes = 6.5/10

A preliminary score appears at 5 votes. The product uses the label “stable” at 10. That label does not mean a statistically representative result, certainty about the average, or that the score will stop moving.

Human Score vs AI Face Score

One collects opinions on this photo; the other predicts photo impressions from a learned model. RealSmile’s headline AI score is separate from the geometric measurements in its scan breakdown.

A 71st-percentile Face Score does not equal 7.1/10. Percentiles and rating averages use different scales. For more detail, read how AI and human attractiveness ratings differ and the AI validation methods and limits.

How to use human photo ratings

  • Read the vote count. Five opinions can be useful feedback, but they are a small sample. More votes do not automatically make the voter pool representative.
  • Judge the shot. Expression, lighting, camera position, and presentation can change the impression. A photo rating is not a permanent score for a person.
  • Avoid reading tiny gaps as a verdict. Two photos can receive different averages from different voters. RealSmile does not claim a small gap proves one will get more dates.
  • Check privacy before submitting. The rating queue shows your face to people. A private AI scan does not submit a photo for community ratings.

If you want to improve the image itself first, the photo-conditions test checks lighting, sharpness, and head angle. It does not measure your worth or predict how everyone will see you.

Human photo rating questions

What is a Human Score?

RealSmile’s Human Score is the average of real people’s 1–10 ratings of one volunteered photo. It describes how those voters rated that photo. It is not a universal attractiveness rank or a measure of your worth.

How is the Human Score calculated?

The base score is the sum of the accepted ratings divided by the number of ratings. For example, ten ratings adding up to 65 give an average of 6.5/10. The vote count matters: a small average can move substantially as more people rate the photo.

How many votes do I need?

A preliminary Human Score appears at 5 votes. RealSmile labels it stable at 10 votes. These are product display thresholds, not a statistical guarantee that the average will stop changing or represent everyone’s preferences.

Is a Human Score the same as an AI Face Score?

No. Human Score uses votes on the actual contributed photo and is reported out of 10. The AI Face Score predicts photo impressions using a model trained against human-rated photos, and is shown as a percentile against its reference population. A 71st-percentile Face Score is not 7.1/10; dividing the percentile by ten does not make the scales comparable.

Can I get my photo rated for free without rating other people?

Yes. Contributing a photo and receiving its Human Score are free. You do not need to buy credits or cast votes to reveal your score. Signed-in voting can affect queue order, but it does not guarantee a number of ratings, a turnaround time, or a higher score.

How long does human photo rating take?

Ratings arrive as the community votes. A score needs 5 votes before the preliminary number appears, and there is no guaranteed turnaround. The instant AI scan is a separate option while you wait; it does not create human votes.

Is human photo rating anonymous and private?

Voters are anonymous to photo owners and cannot leave written comments. Your contributed photo is visible to people in the rating queue, so your face may still be recognizable. Community rating is an explicit opt-in and is different from the private AI scan. You can pause or delete your contribution.

Does uploading for human ratings train the AI?

Permission to show your photo for ratings and permission to use it for model training are separate choices. Training consent is optional; a Human Score does not require it. The current AI model does not automatically retrain every time someone casts a vote.

Can a Human Score predict my dating success?

RealSmile has not validated Human Score as a predictor of matches, conversations, or relationships. It is feedback on one photo from the people who happened to rate it. Lighting, expression, the voter pool, and context can change impressions; a small score difference is not proof of a real-life change.
