Your Face Score is a percentile from a model validated against 1,566 human-rated faces: it ranks your photo against those benchmark faces.
The same scan measures 17 facial-geometry metrics from 68 landmarks — the same scoring engine you can get a detailed face report from in under a minute. Each metric score places your measurement against the first scans of about 2,100 RealSmile users, so 50 is the median scanner.
Face Score
The headline number: a percentile from an attractiveness model validated against 1,566 human-rated faces (r ≈ 0.8, a correlation where 1.0 would mean it tracked the human ratings perfectly). It estimates how people tend to rate the photo, and it is free on every scan.
Symmetry Score
Left–right balance across the 68 facial landmarks. Facial Symmetry is one of the 17 geometry metrics the scan measures.
Eyes & Brows
Canthal tilt (the angle of the eye line from inner to outer corner), eye shape (the hunter eye index), brow arch and brow–eye proximity: the eye-area metrics.
Proportions & Jaw

Why your expression matters more than your features
Research from Princeton found that people form judgments about trustworthiness, competence, and likability within 100 milliseconds of seeing a face. That snap judgment is driven almost entirely by expression — not bone structure.

A face score is a weighted blend, not a single number. Knowing which pillar dominates your score tells you which intervention has the most upside. Most people pick a lever based on what bothers them visually — not based on what actually moves the algorithm.
Inter-feature distances vs. canonical ratios. Hardest to change without surgery, but photography (camera height, focal length 50mm+) shifts perceived proportions noticeably without touching the face.
Left-right deviation across landmarks. Pose-corrected first — most asymmetry scores are pose artifacts. True asymmetry is partially soft-tissue (jaw clench, sleep side) which can shift modestly over 8–12 weeks.
How features fit together — eye-to-brow, lip-to-chin, hair-to-forehead. Hairstyle and brow shape alone routinely move harmony noticeably. Cheapest, fastest pillar to lift.
Texture, tone evenness, blemishes, redness. Often the lowest-scoring pillar but the highest-leverage fix: a 6-week dermatology routine can shift this pillar substantially and lift the overall score by the pillar weight × that delta.
Pillar weights vary by tool. The takeaway is structural: pick the pillar where you have the largest gap to your own ceiling, not the one that scored lowest in absolute terms.
